Growing Kitchen Herbs: Mint, Thyme & Rosemary Guide

Fresh herbs add far richer flavor to cooking than dried ones. GrowlyBox makes it possible to grow mint, thyme, rosemary and parsley year-round indoors.

Mint: Fast-growing, needs moderate watering. Keep in a separate pot as roots spread aggressively. Harvest up to 1/3 of stems.

Thyme: Mediterranean herb that thrives with minimal water. 14–16 hours of light. Sandy, well-drained soil. Harvest before flowering for best aroma.

Rosemary: Slow-growing but long-lived. Very low water needs — overwatering causes root rot. Patience needed: first harvest in 6–8 weeks.

Parsley: Moderate water needs, 12–14 hours light. Slow germination (2–4 weeks). Harvest outer stems from the base.

Multi-herb strategy

Grow herbs in separate pots and stagger watering schedules. Group water-loving herbs (mint, parsley) separately from drought-tolerant ones (thyme, rosemary).
